Bulgaria

Bulgaria is situated in Eastern Europe, with Greece to the South, Romania to the North, Macedonia and Serbia to the West, and Turkey and the Black Sea Coast to the East. It has a population of eight million people. The capital is Sofia, 70 kilometres from Borovets. Plovdiv, Bulgaria's second city, is about the same distance away from Borovets.

Two airlines fly into Sofia from the UK on a daily basis, Easyjet from Gatwick and Wizzair from Luton. Flight time is three hours. Easyjet have just started a new service from Manchester to Sofia. Transfer time to Borovets is approximately one hour.

Bulgaria enjoys a favourable climate, with hot summers and cool winters. In the Black Sea resorts, the temperature averages 35C in the summer months. Even in the Borovets area the average temperature is 30C. In the winter, Borovets normally has sub-zero temperatures and snow cover from early December until early April, so snow conditions for skiing are generally very favourable at these times.

Great to visit in winter or summer!
